HUB SIZING for LOCKING ASSEMBLY CONNECTIONS

B-LOC Locking Assemblies connect components and transmit loads through a mechanical interference fit generated by high contact pressure exerted on both shaft and hub. This pressure will result in tensile (expansion) stresses in the hub, meaning that consideration must be given to the amount of hub material required. If the mounted component is insufficiently sized, the applied tensile stresses will cause plastic deformation and the result will be damage to the component and a failure of the connection.

B-LOC HUB OD CALCULATION TOOL
(for a detailed explanation of these calculations, please refer to Page 24 of our catalog.)

To calculate a minimum required hub OD for a component to be mounted using a B-LOC Locking Assembly, please enter the information requested below and then click "CALCULATE".

Please choose the Locking Assembly Series you have selected for your application.
For selection assistance, please see Selection Assistance .

Please enter the shaft diameter and indicate units.
For example, for a 2-7/16” diameter shaft, enter ‘2.4375’ and select ‘inches.’
inches mm

Please enter the Yield Point of your hub material in psi (pounds per square inch).
For example, for a hub made of AISI 1045 h.r. enter ‘45000’.

Please enter the Length-thru-Bore of the component/hub to be mounted in inches.
Note that this calculation tool assumes the Locking Assembly will be centered in the component/hub;
please contact us if this is not the case.
